Our doctors work together as a team and often collaborate on individual cases.

They all hail from the University of Illinois, with whom we closely work on referral cases.

Dr. John Brix:

Dr. Brix earned his DVM in 1976 from the University of Illinois.  After practicing in Sullivan, IL, he established Brix Veterinary Service in Shelbyville in 1980.  Dr. Brix has an avid interest in herd health as well as companion animal practice.

Dr. Annette Morrow:

Dr. Morrow earned her DVM in 2009 from the University of Illinois. She became a part owner of Brix Veterinary Service in November 2016.  She grew up on a dairy farm in rural Rosamond and enjoys beef and dairy production medicine as well as small animal practice.

Dr. Jared Hunter:

Dr. Hunter earned his DVM in 2014 from the University of Illinois.  He is originally from Decatur, IL, and is interested in both large and small animal medicine.

Dr. Kate Rutherford:

Dr. Rutherford earned her DVM in 2007 from the University of Illinois.  She is Dr. Brix's daughter and has a particular interest in small animal internal medicine.  She is the webmaster for our website and also teaches in the Veterinary Technology program at Parkland College.
